New Adventure

Today I received the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark-II digital camera from my awesome parents.

Along with the camera, I also got two lenses, the Olympus M. Zuiko ED 40-150 mm digital lens, and the Panasonic Lumix G 20mm digital lens.

I’ve always liked to be in front of the camera and now I’ll get to see the other side of the picture. I spent most of the morning and this evening playing around with my new camera. Messing about with the different lenses, exposures, and modes.

I started out with the Olympus lens, which is a more basic model but has good reviews on Amazon. It was a great learning tool, allowing me to play with lighting and work on the exposure levels.

After getting the hang of things, I moved up to the Lumix G 20mm, which has been my favorite of the two so far. It’s a fixed focal length lens, and those tend to produce sharper images than zooms.

I played around with the manual controls and the built-in filters. My favorite mode so far is an art filter that allows you to take black-and-white photos with one color highlighted, like these:

I can’t wait to explore the world of photography further.
